Here Comes the Sun

Darrel and I regularly send each other pictures of the sunrise from where ever we are at that moment. I’m not sure when this began but, due to our different time schedules and separate travel situations, it became a way for us to greet each other and stay close when apart. Lately, I’ve noticed that our little thing has become quite a tradition that we both cherish.
Darrel ventures out much earlier than I do, so the images he sends me comes from right outside our house or various locations around the city. My main spot is in front of our bedroom window. I send him pictures as sunlight filters through leaves, and peeks over rooftops. As I wait, I’m rewarded with warm sun rays entering the window and falling across my face. What a way to start the day!
We both enjoy taking pictures and have always shared photographic moments. Darrel will send me a picture of a fox in the yard, or baby birds in our tree then I scamper outside to see for myself. I send him pictures of our grandkids which he enjoys immensely. I also send him pictures of roof leaks, or needed household repairs to add to his “honey-do list” which he doesn’t seem to like as much. LOL
With a sense of gratitude, we fondly look through our large collection of photographs which have recorded our life together. Reunions, vacations, weddings, graduations, random activities, births, and home-going celebrations have all been captured through our cameras. I treasure them all but what I find most special is getting that early morning text saying, “Honey, here comes the sun,” followed by a beautiful picture of the sunrise seen through Darrel’s eyes.
