A Belated Thank You

For many years I have benefited from a stranger’s kindness.  I intended to show my appreciation for the many times they made me smile, encouraged me, or made me think about others, but I never dropped off that note of gratitude.

In July 2020, I learned the person responsible for the kind acts was Lorraine Twardowski, who over the past 40 years, posted positive signs in front of her house.   Every few weeks there would be a new saying, I’m sure inspiring thousands who have driven down her busy street.

One day, driving down Shipley Road eagerly looking for her sign, I was greeted with a sign that read, “Heaven called…The Sign Lady answered.”  My heart sank. Later my grand-daughter Jamie said, “Grandmom, you have been talking about this for years,” and handed me an article written in our local newspaper about our beloved “Sign Lady.” (The News Journal July 13, 2020.)

Lorraine was a wife, mother, grandmother, and pillar of the community who was loved and appreciated by family, friends, and strangers. I am grateful to have been inspired by such a lovely person. I don’t think she ever realized the impact she had on so many. She planted seeds of harmony that took root in the hearts of those she touched. Her legacy will be passed on.

I may have missed my chance to personally thank Lorraine Twardowski  for her years of positive inspirations,  however I will not miss this opportunity to encourage others in the same way.

So, if you ever happen to come down my street I hope one of the signs you see will make you smile, or encourage you, or make you think about others.

Signing off for now,

Amanda
