No one is…

As I write this post, I am on Day 2 of another new birth cycle.  My birthday on July 25 was wonderful!   Darrel was in full attention, ensuring I felt extra special for the entire day.  Thank you for the birthday shout-outs left on last week’s post.   I am grateful for your calls, texts, visits, and goodies.  Those earrings Malik wow!   You all made my special day all the more special.

Recently we picked up a stand from the thrift store to hold Darrel’s collection of vinyl records.  Our friends Linda and Marshall came by to help us.  Marshall pulled out his tools and converted the drawers into shelves perfect for storing the records.  To finish it off, we replaced our antiquated system with a new turntable and speakers.   Now we have quite the music center just in time for my birthday.

First thing this morning, I dropped some vinyl on the turntable, and birthday celebration Day 2 was in full swing.  I had some winning moves, sliding, spinning, and twirling.  I eased on down the road doing the Uncle Willie.  My feet had not moved that fast since… well… yesterday when I thought a leaf on the floor was a bug.    My friend Nipsey Russell and I had a feeling real moment and sang a duet.  That is, I proudly screeched while he sang.  Then Nipsey had me tap dancing in my flip-flops, which helped me to lubricate my mind.  I hung out with the Poppy Girls.  To keep up, I had to bring my A-game and Camel Walk with exaggerated hip thrusts.  My cousin, Toni Bennett, taught me how to Camel Walk about 57 years ago.  She was on one of her visits to Delaware from California.  I could never out-do her, but I know she would have been proud.  Now I am in transition, thoroughly traveling the lower level of the house.  With my fierce strut, I am bound to be in the spotlight in Emerald City.   With music this good and moves this smooth, I will not interrupt my flow to change clothes.   Instead, I changed colors in my mind to beautiful greens, reds, and golds.   Everything was going great until a challenge came my way. Hold on while I loosen my ponytail and shake out my long mane.  You had all better recognize that I’m a mean ole lion.

I left many clues, and if you have not already guessed, I was listening and dancing to ‘The Wiz’ soundtrack.  As you can see, I was totally in Amanda Land where I enthusiastically entertain my own self. I bet our neighbors think there is a full-fledge party going on over here, but it is just me.  All of the songs, ‘Ease on down the road,’ ‘What would I do if I could feel?’ ‘Mean ole lion,’ ‘Emerald City Sequence,’ etc., never fail to get me up moving and having a great time.  Unfortunately, we only have Record #2 with sides two and three.  I would love to have Record #1 with sides one and four as well.  Hint, hint.

I fully embraced the quote, “Dance like no one is watching.  Sing like no one is listening.’  Truthfully, I may have overdone it with my early morning shenanigans.  I am going to leave you good people now to pull out my heating pad and sit myself down somewhere.  I can guarantee you this though, as long as the good Lord blesses me with a new day, I will always strive to make the absolute best of it.

With gratitude, love, and cool dance moves,

Amanda ❤️😘
